Adam Donnelly Memorial Ball for C.R.Y. - 2008
Following the success of the ball we organised in 2006, we decided to do the same again this year with the hope that we could at least match the money raised last time.
120 tickets were sold for the event at the Woodlands Banqueting Centre in Swanley and the evening was a wonderful success – we raised £6,370 for C.R.Y. which was much more than we had expected.

So many kind and wonderful people attended the dinner, gave raffle prizes or organised items that could be auctioned on the evening. It has made us realise once again that we are blessed with a wonderful circle of friends and family.

Everyone sat down to a delicious 4-course dinner washed down with a couple of glasses of wine. Jed did the after dinner speech where he gave a brief talk on what we as a family are doing with C.R.Y., what we hope to achieve and the success of last year’s screening event that we organised.

Our very dear friend Sandra Clark then acted as auctioneer for the evening and, again, she did a fantastic job in getting people to bid for items. We had 10 items to be auctioned which, in total, raised over £4,000 towards the evening.

Sandra then asked everyone to raise their glasses to Adam who, had he been there, would have loved being the centre of attention and the guest of honour for the evening!

It was then down to the main business of the evening which was getting onto the dance floor. We had really good feedback from the evening and hope that everyone who attended had as good a time as we did. We will definitely be organising another ball in a couple of years.

The Adam Donnelly Memorial Dinner & Dance
On 1st July 2006, we organised the "Adam Donnelly Memorial Dinner & Dance" at the Woodlands, Swanley.
All proceeds for this event will be donated to CRY.
There will be a four course dinner then a disco until 1am.  We will also be holding an auction and a raffle.
We really hope to have a successful evening raising loads of money for CRY but, most of all, remembering Adam.

St Thomas More - Adam Donnelly Award

December 2005 saw the introduction of an annual award in St Thomas More School in memory of Adam.
As Adam was passionate about sport, the Governors of St Thomas More School and ourselves decided that the most appropriate award to be given in memory of Adam each year would be an award for sport.
The award is given to a Year 11 student who, each year, contributes generously and selflessly to encourage and develop sport throughout the school.
The Adam Donnelly Award 2005 was given to Henry Motton.
We were very pleased to be asked along to the school to present the award during the Year 11 Presentation evening.

Hydro Active Women's Challenge

On September 4th 2005, our dear friends Sandra & Gabbie Clark ran the 5km Hydro Active Women's Challenge in Hyde Park.
They ran the race in memory of Adam and were raising money for C.R.Y.
It was a really hot day and there were thousands of women running for different charities.  Because there were so many running, it was actually difficult for Sandra & Gabbie to keep a continuous pace but they finished in around 40 minutes which is brilliant.
Thanks to everyone who sponsored them and special thanks to Sandra and Gabbie - total raised for C.R.Y. was £365.

Kent Ravens Awards night - Saturday, 20th August 2005
As a recognition of Adam's love and commitment to Rugby League, we have sponsored a trophy to be awarded to the Kent Ravens Youth Player of the Year.
The club is run by Alan & Vicki Bacon who Adam had a lot of time and respect for - fellow lovers of THE game!

The Kent Ravens presentation evening was held on Saturday, 20th August 2005 and we were very pleased that the trophy was won this year by Alex Osborne (see picture).  Alex also coached the under 11s and was water boy for the women's team!

Auction of American Airlines tickets - Saturday, July 16th 2005
Adam's aunt (Ann) works for American Airlines and they very generously donated 2 return tickets to anywhere in the US to be auctioned for C.R.Y.

We were very fortunate to be able to auction these tickets at the Our Lady of the Rosary 50th anniversary ball as part of their auction.
One generous bidder paid £560 for the 2 tickets - £60 of which was donated to the school as a recognition of their support and £500 was sent to C.R.Y.

Special thanks to Karen Foley for letting us auction these tickets as part of their event and to Mr. Murphy, headteacher of Our Lady of the Rosary school.
Sian does a sponsored swim - Saturday, June 18th 2005
Sian set herself a target of swimming 3,000 metres (120 lengths) in 90 minutes for this sponsored swim and, even after having a snack break, she managed to complete the swim in just over an hour - fantastic achievement!

Thanks to Diane for letting us use the pool at Colfe's Leisure Centre and to Paul for giving up his time to lifeguard the event.

A grand total of £458 was sent to CRY after this event which included over a £100 which was collected by Colfe's in a collection box in reception so thanks to all the sponsors and Colfe's Leisure Centre.

But most of all, thanks and well done to Sian - Adam would have been proud of you!

CRY Coffee Morning - Our Lady of the Rosary Parish Social Club - June 17th 2005
A coffee morning was held at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish Social Club to raise funds for CRY.
There was a fantastic turnout at this event and the ladies of the Union of Catholic Mothers (UCM) had been extremely busy baking cakes and biscuits for the coffee morning.
Special thanks to Hilda for all her help with this event and to Carolann for selling so many tickets in the school playground.

A fantastic total of £525 was raised in the coffee morning.

Adam Donnelly Memorial Football Match - Sunday, 12th June 2005

The St Thomas More Allstars played Riefield Allstars in a memorial football match at Crown Woods School in memory of Adam (see photos).

Thankfully, the rain stayed off for the day and all the players looked fantastic in their specially printed t-shirts.  The match itself was a little one-sided with St Thomas More beating Riefield 6-1 (I personally think it's because STM had Hayley and Rhea playing for them!) but the day itself wasn't about winners and losers but about remembering Adam and, in remembering him, raising people's awareness of sudden cardiac death.

Thanks to all the players who turned up on the day - we could not have done this without you.  Shame we couldn't persuade Dave Williams to turn out though (he said something about "wrong shaped ball"!).

Special thanks also to Ray Gunn who let us use Crown Woods school grounds for the day and to Sandra & Dave Clark who did a fantastic job on the barbecue and general organisation of the day.

We'd be interested to know if the players would like to play a similar game next year?

A total of £375 was raised for CRY so thanks to everyone for their support.

C.R.Y.'s 10th Anniversary & Awareness Week June 11th - 18th 2005

Sadly, many people become involved with charities when their lives have been affected personally by what these charities represent.  Our own personal tragedy in the loss of Adam at such a young age has led us to become involved with CRY - we have been given a lot of support and information from them since losing Adam and, sadly, realised that there are many other families like us losing young, fit children so suddenly and unexpectedly.

We decided to organise the 3 following events during CRY's Awareness week to raise awareness and much needed funds:
Adam Donnelly Memorial Football Match - 12th June
Coffee morning - 17th June
Sian doing a sponsored swim - 18th June
(see separate write-ups of these events)

Sponsored Bike Ride in aid of C.R.Y.

“On Saturday, 28th May a group of people did a sponsored 75-mile bike ride – finishing at the Queens Arms pub in Fulham.
Some people did the bike ride in tandem but quite a few completed the whole 75 miles on their own - among them our very special friends Eric and Carl Adamson who raised £765 between them for C.R.Y. - well done lads!
The rest of the team - Caron, Tony, Mandy, Joey and Bob raised a staggering £1,791 between them which is fantastic - thanks guys!
So total raised was £2,556.
Thanks to all who took part - it really was a fantastic amount of money raised”.

Lisa does a SkyDive for C.R.Y.
On 15th May 2005, Lisa and 5 of her friends completed a Tandem SkyDive at the North London Parachute Centre in memory of Adam and in aid of C.R.Y.

We are so proud of Lisa for completing this because she was extremely nervous and apprehensive about the jump - thanks also to her friends Kirsty, Charlotte, Richard, Naomi - Lisa has said she wouldn't have done it without them with her to support her.
Lisa carried a picture of Adam and one of his Tottenham badges in her pocket while doing the SkyDive - so he was with her all the way!

Sponsorship money is still rolling in for this event but it looks likely that they will have raised around £3,000 for CRY between them.

Riefield J.F.C. 5-a-side competition
On Saturday, 26th March 2005, a 5-a-side tournament was held at Goals in Dartford.
Boys from the current Riefield under-15's and under 13's took part and were playing for the "Adam Donnelly" trophy.
Jed presented the trophy to the winners "Portugal" at the end of a well played tournament.
Thanks to Andrew, Ian, Tony and Angie for organising this event.

Old Brockleians Rugby Club Raffle
A raffle was organised by the Old Brockleians Rugby Club in memory of Adam and a total of £140 was raised.
This money was sent to Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
Many thanks to all at the rugby club and especially to Danny Hogan for passing the money on to us.
